Analytics Report Showcase

Thanks to everyone who came along to our latest Football Analytics Meetup!

We kicked things off by reviewing a detailed player performance report, breaking down attacking output, passing efficiency, and positional tendencies from real match data.

After that, we split into groups for our Scouting Draft Challenge — stepping into the shoes of the recruitment team at a newly promoted Premier League club. Each team had a £50 million budget to build a squad capable of surviving the season, debating the value and fit of players such as Eberechi Eze, Ivan Toney, and Joško Gvardiol.

Once everyone had built their teams, we compared notes in a head-to-head scouting exercise, choosing between left-backs Oleksandr Zinchenko and Pervis Estupiñán based on tactical context and team style. That sparked some lively discussion about how recruitment decisions depend as much on system fit as they do on raw ability.

We rounded things off with a chat on what makes a great scouting report — clear profiling, evidence-based insights, contextual analysis, and a decisive recommendation — and shared some excellent resources for anyone keen to explore data-driven scouting in more depth.

Here are some of the key links and tools we discussed:
